3 Days Mikumi National Park Safari From Zanzibar

Your safari begins with a flight from Zanzibar to the Mikumi area, followed by a transfer to Wellworth Mikumi Wildlife Lodge near Mikumi National Park.

After arriving, our team meets you and assists with the transfer to the lodge. Depending on your flight time, you may enjoy lunch, relax, and settle into the safari rhythm. This first day is not about exhausting you. It is about changing your world from ocean breeze to wild savannah.

Day two is the heart of your safari. You spend the full day exploring Mikumi National Park with your safari guide, searching for wildlife across the open plains, woodland areas, water points, and scenic viewpoints.

This is the day when Mikumi shows its real value. The park has open areas where animals are easier to spot compared to thick forest parks. Giraffes often move gracefully across the plains, zebras and wildebeest graze in groups, elephants may appear near water areas, and buffalo can be seen in strong numbers.

Lions are also found in Mikumi, although sightings depend on movement, weather, and the time of day. Early morning and late afternoon are usually better for predators because the temperature is cooler. During hotter hours, lions often rest in shade.

Your guide will adjust the route based on animal movement. This matters more than many travelers realize. A good safari is not just driving randomly. It is about reading fresh tracks, understanding where animals were seen earlier, checking water sources, and knowing when to wait quietly.
